The Phoenix Suns earned a close victory against the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night, defeating the trio of Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves with their own stars (Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks) sidelined due to injury.
Collin Gillespie and Grayson Allen led the way offensively, as the sharpshooting duo combined for 49 points and 12 made three-pointers.
That said, it was Royce O'Neale who played the hero as he knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer with 0.9 seconds remaining.
With the win, Phoenix snapped a two-game skid and improved to an impressive 20-12 record at home.
That places them seventh in the Western Conference standings, now one game behind the Lakers.
Following the win, Allen spoke about what it means to defeat Los Angeles as the playoff race in the West heats up. “It was great to get a win and against a good team, against a team that we're chasing down in the standings.”
Now, with the next four days off to rest, the Suns received encouraging injury news.
According to NBA insider John Gambadoro, Devin Booker could suit up for Phoenix as soon as their next matchup against the Sacramento Kings Tuesday. If not then, all signs point to Booker being ready to go for Thursday's matchup against the Bulls.
With 22 games remaining and Brooks still recovering from a broken hand, Phoenix will happily welcome Booker back into the lineup.
There, he'll be able to build on-court chemistry with Jalen Green who's missed 48 games due to injury this season.
