Stunning Redwood mansion teeters on edge of collapse after biblical flooding

A stunning Redwood mansion is teetering on the edge of collapse following biblical flooding in the Northern California area of Sonoma County.

Massive rains have hit the town of Guerneville, which sits on the banks of the historic Russian River, where the home has slide off its foundation and the house is falling down. The home’s retaining wall is also gone and the heavy rains keep coming.

Neighbors who live right under the home fear they will have to leave the area if the unoccupied building that was under construction crashes down on them.

May Maye, who lives across the street told KTVU2, “I just heard ‘boom’ and actually, the next-door neighbor called me and told me, ‘Hey, the house is falling down.”

A parking spot under the home was under construction and they had removed some trees too.

“They cut out a couple trees and when you pull out trees, there’s gonna be erosion,” Maye added.

But when asked if she will leave, Maye said she’s not going anywhere, she loves it there.

The sheriff’s message on Facebook about the warning encouraged residents to prepare to evacuate by gathering essential items, planning an evacuation route, and staying vigilant.

“Remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate if conditions worsen. If you feel unsafe, leave immediately and do not wait for an evacuation order.”

Sgt. Juan Valencia with the sheriff’s office told The Post that neighbors were notified of the evacuation warning and stressed that it wasn’t at the point yet of an evacuation order.

“The area is under an evacuation warning and has potential for trees to fall,” Valencia said. “They don’t have to leave. It’s a warning.  We just want people to know of the danger. “

Valencia said next Permit Sonoma will come out with their engineers to take a determination of the area. The landslide experts will then determine if more action should be taken and if an evacuation warning needs to be upgraded to an evacuation order.

Exactly how many homes were being affected under the warning was not available.

Calls to Permit Sonoma were not immediately returned to The Post.
