Strasbourg face off with Auxerre in a Ligue 1 match at the Stade de la Meinau this Wednesday.

Strasbourg come into this match sitting in 7th place, just outside the European qualifying spots, while Auxerre are in 17th, ten spots lower.

So which team will come away with the points on Wednesday?

Strasbourg vs Auxerre Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

  • Strasbourg have won five of their last six meetings with Auxerre, and at home, the only time they have failed to beat this week's visitors in the last two decades was in July 2005.
  • After an exciting 3-3 draw with reigning champions PSG on October 17, last week did not really go to plan for Strasbourg. First, they required a late equaliser from top scorer Joaquin Panichelli to rescue a point in a UEFA Conference League match with Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok, and then they were defeated by Lyon, being reduced to ten men in the process.
  • Auxerre also fell to defeat at the weekend, losing to fellow strugglers Le Havre at home by a goal to nil. Auxerre have now lost three of their last four Ligue 1 matches, and have only won one of their last eight.
  • Strasbourg forward Joaquin Panichelli is currently Ligue 1's top scorer with seven goals to his name. He's scored five of those goals in his last three league matches.
  • Auxerre's away form is a real cause for concern, as they've only picked up a solitary point on their travels this season, losing three of their four away games while only scoring three goals.

Strasbourg vs Auxerre Prediction

Strasbourg have not enjoyed good results in their last couple of matches, but it's safe to say that this is a solid chance for them to get back to winning ways.

Not only have Auxerre been poor on the road this season, they're also winless in their last four matches, and have struggled in front of goal throughout.

Strasbourg, meanwhile, haven't been defending as well as boss Liam Rosenior would probably hope for, but they do have a strong attacking unit, and they have won three of their four home matches in the league.

With that in mind, the prediction is a home win.

Prediction: Strasbourg 2-1 Auxerre
