NBA insiders and fans are starting to get ready for the start of the 2025-26 season. The new year is set to start in just over two months.
With this being said, NBA.com has evaluated the top players within the Western Conference. From the Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic to the San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembenyama, Shaun Powell was able to put together a list of the top players.
The Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry cracked the list, coming in at No. 5. The four players in front of him were Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, and Luka Doncic.
Curry, 37, had a disappointing end to his 2024-25 season after coming down with a hamstring strain in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. The Warriors weren't able to adjust without the superstar player and were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.
The Warriors franchise superstar still showed why he was one of the best in the league, leading Golden State to an upset series win against the top-seeded Houston Rockets in the first round before getting injured.
Curry is coming off his lowest scoring average of the decade (24.7) and the second-lowest full-season 3-point percentage of his career (39.7%)... A drop-off is inevitable, and maybe it happens this season. Until then, this is where he stands in the West, among the game-changers," Shaun Powell wrote in his top Western Conference players list.
The greatest shooter in NBA history has moved past his younger days. But until someone else takes the title of being the most lethal shot-maker in the league, Stephen Curry remains deserving of the recognition as not just one of the best in the Western Conference, but one of the best in the entire league.
