Steph Curry and Klay Thompson's careers have been synonymous as they have won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors. As Thompson deals with trade rumors from the Dallas Mavericks this season, Curry got candid on the recent developments of his former backcourt partner on the court.
In a report by ESPN's Anthony Slater, Curry commented on Thompson's recent altercation with Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant, who mocked Thompson in a game against the Mavericks. Curry said that it is not fair to take shots at Thompson when he is not getting the same looks as he had with the Warriors.
"The idea that he is carrying the Warrior success no matter what jersey he has on, I do like that part of it," he said. "But I don't like people taking shots at him when he doesn't have that coverage and he doesn't have his guys with him."•

Thompson has been putting up career lows this season, averaging 11.1 points per game, his worst since entering the NBA in 2011. He is also shooting a career-worst 37.0 percent from the field, and a respectable 36.1 percent from the 3-point line.
His struggles have caused trade rumblings and uncertainty about his future with the Mavericks.
Thompson left Golden State in 2024 to play for the then-Luka Doncic-led Mavericks before the blockbuster trade that sent the Slovenian star to the LA Lakers.
Since then, Thompson has been a shell of his former self as he has been forced to take more self-creation duties.
The Mavericks are currently in the 12th seed in the Western Conference with a 10-17 record.
Klay Thompson gets candid on time with the Warriors and how his mindset changed once he left
Klay Thompson was key in all four of the Warriors' title in their dynastic run from 2015 to 2022. In the same interview with ESPN's Slater, Thompson said that he put himself on a high standard when he was still wearing the Golden State uniform.
"When I was in the Bay, when I put that No. 11 jersey on, I think any performer would tell you, any athlete, that you hold yourself to a certain standard," he said. "When you've broken records, when you've set records, when you've experienced the highest peaks the sport can offer -- and you think that's just the normal -- I was always searching for that in Golden State."For now, Thompson is expected to continue to be part of the Mavericks' roster, headlined by rookie Cooper Flagg and 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis, as they look to rise to a playoff contender in the middle of the season.
