SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Quiet is not usually a word associated with Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
He is loud on the field with the way he plays and how he runs his mouth.
But Diggs was basically silent in New England’s 29-13 loss to the Seahawks in Super Bowl 2026
Diggs had three catches for 37 yards on three targets.
His first catch came in the second quarter.
Diggs was not heard from again until the final minutes of the game when he had a 26-yard catch.
It was shocking because Diggs was such a big part of the Patriots offense all season.
He had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in his first season for New England.
The team signed him to a three-year, $69 million contract in the offseason and he had a strong season at age 32 and coming off an ACL injury in 2024.

The Patriots offense failed to get much going until the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Drake Maye was under constant pressure all night and turned the ball over twice.
Patriots receivers struggled to get open against the Seahawks secondary.
The strange thing was the Patriots did not even try to get Diggs the ball, even during the stretch in the fourth quarter when they started moving the ball more.
Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte were all bigger parts of the offense than Diggs.
Diggs will have to wait another year for his shot at a Super Bowl title.
He got close with Josh Allen in Buffalo and Case Keenum in Minnesota.
Now, he’s counting on Maye to continue to develop and give him a chance at a ring.
Diggs will turn 33 during next season and is running out of time to hold the Lombardi Trophy.
It looks like the Patriots have a team on the rise, but we have thought that before with teams that lose the Super Bowl and don’t ever return.
