Steelers trade rumor names 2 WRs on Pittsburgh's radar who could be Mike Williams 2.0

With the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching on Nov. 4, time is running out for the Pittsburgh Steelers to make some moves.

At the top of the list of needs is, of course, wide receiver, where Pittsburgh needs to, at the very least, add more depth behind DK Metcalf. Ideally, general manager Omar Khan comes away with a legitimate No. 2 wide receiver to complement Metcalf and help Aaron Rodgers.

Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan is hearing that the Steelers have two veteran wide receivers on their "radar" who don't figure to cost much.

Those receivers are the New Orleans Saints' Brandin Cooks and the Tennessee Titans' Tyler Lockett.

"Rumor: 2 WRs on the Steelers radar who will get traded for peanuts at the NFL trade deadline are veteran wideouts Brandon Cooks and Tyler Lockett," Fillipponi wrote. "Given Aaron Rodgers penchant for professional route runners who will be in the right place at the right time both would be fits."

Both of those players will give Steelers fans some real Mike Williams vibes. Lest we forget, the Steelers acquired Williams at the trade deadline last year before he proved he was clearly over the hill. Williams, 31, is now retired.

Cooks and Lockett are both older and in the midst of bad seasons. Sound familiar?

Lockett, 33, has reeled in 10 of 21 targets for just 70 yards, which ranks fourth among wide receivers in Tennessee, and he's playing a career-low 45% of snaps.

It's easy to blame his lackluster production on Cam Ward, who has struggled, and now-former head coach Brian Callahan, who was completely inept. However, Lockett has shown signs of decline for multiple years now.

Cooks, 32, has been slightly more productive with 127 yards on 14 catches, and he's in a bad situation, also, with Spencer Rattler throwing him the football. But, like Lockett, Cooks has been on a downslide for years.

Both of these guys are primed to have Williams-like showings in Pittsburgh. Khan needs to avoid them, unless he simply can't do better. In that case, it would be worth a shot considering neither one will cost much.
