The NFL Draft is just two days away, and things are starting to come down to the wire. Teams are feeling the pressure to make the right selections for their future, doing everything they can to avoid drafting a potential bust. That’s the beauty of the draft—every pick carries uncertainty, and there’s no guarantee a player will pan out.
Over the past couple of weeks, the quarterbacks behind Miami’s Cam Ward have been fluctuating on draft boards. There's no clear landing spot for Jaxson Dart, Shedeur Sanders, or even Jalen Milroe. Lately, Milroe has been drawing strong comparisons for his speed, including one to Lamar Jackson.
“To me, Jalen Milroe is a lottery ticket. He's got the strongest arm of any quarterback in the draft. ... He has the agility and vision as a runner that I would put up there with the Lamar Jackson's of the world,” Mina Kimes said.
One of the most intriguing storylines in the first round is which quarterback the Pittsburgh Steelers will select. Their QB room isn’t in great shape, especially after losing Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Sanders has been a strong candidate for a while, and after his visit, he couldn’t hide his excitement.
“I understand the mindset and why they win a lot. … What he (Mike Tomlin) preaches from the top down is like my dad. … It was a 10,” Sanders said.
Sanders is especially interesting because he could be selected anywhere in the first round. However, a recent mock draft has him falling out of the first round entirely, with the Steelers opting for Milroe in a surprising twist.

“Even adding a veteran wouldn’t preclude the Steelers from taking Milroe, who has incredible tools and won teams over during the interview process,” Nate Tice wrote.
It would certainly be a shock, but Milroe has impressed as of late. The Giants hold the 34th pick, which could end up being the perfect spot for Sanders to land in New York after all.
