Steelers rumored to have trade interest in wide receiver Aaron Rodgers would love

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver room has seen a lot of movement this offseason, starting with the trade in March that brought two-time Pro Bowler DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh from the Seattle Seahawks.

In free agency, the Steelers let Mike Williams and Van Jefferson leave for deals with the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans respectively. They also signed former Houston Texans wideout Robert Woods to a one-year, $2 million deals.

Then, on Wednesday, Pittsburgh sent a 2027 seventh-round pick to George Pickens, the team's top receiver the last two seasons, to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2026 third and a 2027 fifth.

While that's already quite a bit of change for one offseason, that may not be all for the Steelers. According to 93.7 The Fan's Andrew Fillipponi, Pittsburgh has inquired about Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

Doubs, 25, played collegiately at Nevada from 2018-21, earning First-team All-Mountain West in his final two seasons with the Wolf Pack.

Green Bay selected Doubs in the fourth round (No. 132 overall) in the 2022 NFL draft and gave him a decent role to start his career as a rookie. Over the last three seasons, he's appeared in 43 games (starting 35) and caught 147 passes for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Pro Football Focus gave Doubs a 71.4 receiving grade in 2024, ranking him 53rd out of 98 qualified NFL wideouts last season.

The Packers have a solid group of young receivers heading into 2025, including Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden. That depth and the fact that Doubs was suspended by the team last year due to his lack of involvement in the offense may make Green Bay more comfortable moving on from Doubs this offseason.

In Pittsburgh, Doubs would slot in right behind Metcalf on the depth chart and could help whoever is under center in 2025. It also doesn't hurt that free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is still considering playing with the Steelers, is reportedly fond of Doubs from their time together in Green bay.
