Steelers only have 1 option in NFL Draft according to analyst

The Pittsburgh Steelers loom as one team that will be a fascinating watch on draft night, as the franchise still has no idea who will be the starting quarterback in 2026.

That in itself is head-scratching, and it leaves the franchise in limbo at the most important position in football. It could also impact the Steelers' draft plan. If Ty Simpson is on the board when Pittsburgh picks, will the franchise look to add another quarterback to the room?

But quarterback isn't the only position of need for Mike McCarthy's offense, as the offensive line and even receiver have been mentioned as needs.

For NFL.com's Dan Parr, the Steelers' draft plan has only one flavor to it -- offense.

“Even if the 42-year-old does reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy, Pittsburgh should be looking for a long-term solution at quarterback, although they did spend a sixth-round pick on Will Howard a year ago,” Parr wrote. “Rodgers' return would allow the team to focus its most valuable draft resources on enhancing his supporting cast.

“Left guard Isaac Seumalo departed in free agency, leaving a hole on the offensive line. There’s room to improve at receiver behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. The Steelers should be looking to become more dynamic at tight end, too.”

Should Steelers draft QB?

That is a thought-provoking question, folks.

Ultimately, how McCarthy views the options at his disposal will influence whether the franchise takes a quarterback. It might not be in the first round though, as some project, it could be in the later rounds for someone like a Carson Beck.

I get the feeling that this Rodgers situation won't influence what Pittsburgh does at quarterback anyway, but still, it would be nice to know Aaron's intentions before the draft.

But it appears we won't, and as we head into the draft, the Steelers don't know who their starting quarterback will be in 2026.

Make of that what you will.
