Steelers named top landing spot for 527-touchdown future Hall of Fame QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers must figure out their complicated quarterback situation before the 2026-27 season begins (we’re still a ways away).

As of Mar. 31, the organization doesn’t have a reliable signal caller they can depend on regularly.

However, Pro Football Focus’ Mason Cameron believes that could change if the franchise secures the services of a future Hall of Fame quarterback who has thrown 527 touchdowns in his illustrious career.

“Patience in the offseason has been the theme for Aaron Rodgers late in his career. And while there have been no reported offers to Rodgers, Steelers brass has voiced interest in a reunion,” Cameron wrote last Thursday.

“It makes sense to pair Rodgers with his longtime former head coach and play-caller, Mike McCarthy. McCarthy coached Rodgers for 13 of his 20 NFL seasons, reaching the heights of Super Bowl champions and NFL MVP awards.”

“While the pair’s relationship toward the end of their time together was characterized by some as strained — which both have said is false — the recent sentiment is that they share admiration for one another. Behind-the-scenes dynamics aside, Rodgers played some of his best ball for McCarthy.”

Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers before the start of the 2025-26 NFL campaign and enjoyed a relatively productive season in Pittsburgh. The Super-Bowl winning quarterback recorded 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions in 16 contests.

Rodgers helped the Steelers reach the AFC Wild Card round, but the franchise had no answer for the Houston Texans’ smothering defense (resulting in a 30-6 loss).

The 42-year-old is undoubtedly at the end of his career, but returning to the Steelers for another season would give Pittsburgh stability at the quarterback position for at least the 2026-27 season.
