Steelers' latest all-in trade for Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey could end GM Omar Khan's career

Monday morning is usually a sluggish way to start the week. It was anything but that for the Dolphins and Steelers, who just completed a blockbuster trade. The Dolphins are finally parting ways with Jalen Ramsey after months of trade talks. Not only that, but they found a team willing to take on his hefty contract.

“But a lot of these teams are spooked by the money because of the $24 million guaranteed. The Rams are sort of waiting it out. It's really interesting. I do think it'll get done, I just don't know what it's going to look like financially. But I know he's supposed to get traded in somewhat short order, so I think in the next week or two I could see it coming together,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said.

The deal also included Minkah Fitzpatrick in a rare player-for-player swap.

“Steelers traded three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Dolphins in exchange for three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The rare player-for-player trade,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote.

Ramsey hasn’t even arrived in Pittsburgh yet, and he is already putting Beanie Bishop on the chopping block. He is impacting the Steelers before he even arrives—not only threatening Bishop’s job security but also taking on the role of GM Omar Khan in the court of public opinion.

Fitzpatrick was a staple for the Steelers, and Khan just traded him away to Miami like it was nothing.

“That being said, trading a beloved star, and the heart and soul of your defense in exchange for a great, but also aging superstar and a TE is a risky move from Omar Khan. Jonnu Smith is a good player, and he will make the offense better, but this a TE #2 we are talking about after all. So in the end, it's a good move for the Steelers on paper. But if Ramsey doesn't produce and the team falters, it's going to get hot in the kitchen for Khan,” A To Z Sports’ Rob Gregson wrote.

Ramsey is a seven-time Pro Bowler and only 30 years old, so he is expected to be a great fit. However, if production like Fitzpatrick’s isn’t there, it could be a rude awakening for Khan.
