It has been a turbulent stretch for the Iowa Hawkeyes on the wrestling mats. On Monday, the program released another bump in the road.
Former Iowa high school state champion Gabe Arnold was dismissed from the Hawkeyes, according to Pat Mineo on social media. The exact reason for the dismissal has yet to be made public.

Arnold was a state champion in his only season competing in Iowa, winning gold for Iowa City High after competing in Georgia. He was teammates with Ben Kueter, the Iowa heavyweight wrestler at the moment.
To go along with his Iowa high school wrestling title at 182 pounds in 2023, Arnold was a two-time national prep champion and won the 2023 U.S. Open. He was a runner-up in freestyle at the World Team Trials and finished 123-6 overall.
In his two seasons at Iowa that included a redshirt, Arnold went 27-8 with a 13-3 record in duals and a 6-2 mark in the Big Ten Conference. This past season, he was 19-7 overall and finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships.
If Arnold decides to continue competing at the NCAA level, he will have three years left to wrestle.
