After reports on Thursday that the Pittsburgh Steelers were still waiting to hear from Aaron Rodgers on what he wants to do and had not had any update since the NFL draft, it remains uncertain how everything will play out.
Rodgers, a future Hall of Famer, likes to be the center of attention. While he's suggested that this isn't the case this time around, it seems like Rodgers wants the Steelers to want him.
However, according to comments from beat writer Ray Fittipaldo, the Steelers are content with giving Mason Rudolph the keys to the quarterback room and reportedly like him. He added that if Rodgers decided to retire, the Steelers wouldn't be too upset.
"He's the best option available, and their only other option right now is Mason Rudolph", Fittipaldo said of the Steelers waiting for Rodgers, per Steelers Depot. "I honestly think it's that simple. Believe me, they wouldn't have their hearts broken if Aaron Rodgers retires, because they like Mason Rudolph."

Throughout his career, Rudolph has had some decent showings, but to say he's anything like Rodgers would be unfair to both of them.
29 years old, his best season came in his first season in the NFL in 2019, throwing for 1,765 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Steelers.
Even with Rodgers being 40 years old, he's significantly better than a player of Rudolph's caliber, and the Steelers have to understand that.
However, Mike Tomlin doesn't necessarily love too much drama, and that's what Rodgers brings, unfortunately.
Perhaps an answer will be given soon, but there's still plenty that has to play out.
