A living legend returned to the boxing ring on Friday night, when Mike Tyson took on Jake Paul in a highly anticipated exhibition matchup that didn't come close to living up to the hype.
Tyson and Paul went the distance, but it was very clear the former was gassed early, which led to Paul securing an easy victory. Nobody should be surprised at the result, though, as Tyson is 58 years old and was never going to be able to keep up someone 30-plus years younger than him.
The good news is, the fight was broadcast on Netflix, so we didn't have to drop 50 bucks on a Pay-Per-View event. There were also some good fights before the main event and, in fact, the Tyson-Paul matchup was the worst of the night.
After Tyson-Paul was over, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward took to X to express his disappointment in the fight while also noting the aforementioned silver lining.
"At least it wasn’t (Pay-Per-View) where we all feel crumby for buying it," Heyward said. "We can get way more out of Netflix."
Heyward rightly wasn't pleased with the decision in the Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano bout that should have gone Serrano's way but was ultimately given to Taylor.
"Serrano won that fight," Heyward said. "These judges already acting (suspect)."
Interestingly enough, Heyward and the Steelers will be playing on Christmas Day in the first of two games that will be broadcast on Netflix that day.
But there is major concern about Netflix's ability to effectively stream the games after the service had serious buffering issues on Friday night. The quality of the overall broadcast itself was lackluster, to say the least, and even included Tyson showing the world a full moon by accident in the locker room.
Netflix clearly has some issues to work out before it broadcasts NFL games next month.
