There's no way the NFL would've done this if the deal wasn't already as good as one.

At least, that's the conspiracy theory way to look at the whole thing. The Pittsburgh Steelers play at the New York Jets in Week 1, officially confirmed by the NFL's schedule release on Wednesday night.

And if you're keeping score at home, there's a connection here.

Former Jets QB is on the verge of signing with the Steelers in free agency.

Rodgers played only four snaps in his first Jets season in 2023 before tearing his Achilles.

In 2024, Rodgers wasn't statistically bad, but the dysfunctional Jets went 5-12.

New York actually signed Justin Fields in free agency from Pittsburgh. Fields was 4-2 as a starter for the Steelers in 2024 before Russell Wilson returned from injury and kept Fields on the bench the rest of the way.

It's a chance for revenge all around.

If Rodgers doesn't sign, it'll just look quite bizarre right from the start.
