76ers predicted to land $194 million superstar in blockbuster trade involving Paul George

Paul George was supposed to be the missing piece for the 76ers.

Instead, he made them worse.

In the first year of George's 4-year, $212 million contract, Philadelphia did not make the playoffs and the forward finished the season injured.

A trade involving PG-13 would be perfect for the many disgruntled Sixers fans who are unhappy with the investment in the 35 year old.

Lucky for Philly, there's another unhappy star in the Western Conference they could target.

76ers trade for Kevin Durant

A potential trade suggested by CBS Sports' Sam Quinn would move Kevin Durant from Phoenix to Philadelphia.

There's only a few assets involved in the deal, but it's objectively a blockbuster exchange.

76ers receive:

  • Kevin Durant

Suns receive:

  • Paul George
  • 2025 No. 3 overall pick

Durant was publicly shopped at the trade deadline by the Suns before both parties agreed to play it out until the end of season. Spoiler: it did not go according to plan.

Phoenix didn't even qualify for the play-in tournament, finishing 36-46 as the 11-seed.

It would give both teams a fresh look on the wings. The Suns, who have mortgaged most of their draft equity in trades, would get a young talent with the third overall pick.

The Sixers would acquire a two-time champion in Durant who, when healthy, can still be one of the top five players in the league.

The 36 year old averaged 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last season.

If Philadelphia could get Embiid back to full health alongside Durant and young star Tyrese Maxey, it would be a formidable duo in the Eastern Conference.

"Nobody hunts stars like Daryl Morey, and this pick is one of the most powerful tools he's ever had to do it with," Quinn wrote. "He takes one last swing on the Joel Embiid era and escapes the last three years of George's contract by going after Durant."

He would be a great fit for spacing alongside an interior player like Embiid. In fact, the MVP center advocated for Durant as a teammate back in 2016.

Does Embiid feel the same way now? Chances are he'd be willing to do whatever it takes to bring Philadelphia a championship.

Durant could be the difference.
