The San Antonio Spurs are chasing the playoffs and looking to win in the margins.
The team signed Mason Plumlee to a 10-day contract on Tuesday. He most recently averaged 1.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14 games with the Hornets.
Plumlee had his best season in 2022-23 with Charlotte when he averaged 12.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Plumlee is in his 13th season and can serve as a veteran presence on a young Spurs team. He's been in 71 postseason games and has played for the Hornets, Clippers, Nuggets, Trail Blazers, and Suns.
Spurs center depth chart after signing Mason Plumlee
- Victor Wembanyama
- Luke Kornet
- Kelly Olynyk
- Bismack Biyombo
- Mason Plumlee
Wembanyama is listed as the starting center but could just as easily slide into the power forward spot if the Spurs want to play big. Still, Plumlee has a long list of capable big men standing in the way of playing time.
I cannot wait until Mason Plumlee shows Wemby some of these moves https://t.co/V9NDUjXwGO

San Antonio signed him to a 10-day so there's no telling if the veteran will be there for the long haul. But he could definitely contribute his experience and physicality to a young team that is playoff bound.
Only time will tell if he becomes a permanent fixture on this year's team.
