Although the Spurs fell just short of bringing home another title to San Antonio, they made a major jump after several underwhelming years.
They have formed a talented young core of players, and they just re-signed one of their key players to a long-term deal.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Monday afternoon that they re-signed Julian Champagnie to a contract extension.

This came after a $3 million team option was declined by the Spurs, so they could negotiate a long-term deal prior to the open free agency period beginning.
Champagnie's new contract is worth $45 million and is three years long.
His role this past season grew, as he became a regular starter, and he eventually became one of the Spurs' go-to scorers in the postseason.
He averaged 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 23 games this postseason.
Champagnie is currently on a 208-game streak that stretches across the regular and postseason.
