As one of the favorites to win the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, Spain gear up for a pair of international friendlies in the March international window, the final opportunity for head coach Luis de la Fuente to get a look at his squad before naming the list of players for this summer's tournament.
La Roja were expecting to contest the Finalissima against Argentina during this period, but the showcase trophy match set to be played in Qatar was cancelled due to military hostilities in the Middle East.
Instead, Spain added friendlies against Serbia on March 27 and Egypt on March 30 to the calendar. With the last-minute reshuffle, logistics for the games have been handled on the fly. The Serbia match will be played in Villarreal, while the Egypt game has yet to see a venue named.
The Sporting News has the latest on the players called up for the March international window, with the World Cup squarely visible on the horizon.

Lamine, Rodri return from injury, while Merino, Ruiz miss out
There are a number of players absent from the Spain international squad as they deal with a variety of injuries.
Gavi has returned to action with Barcelona after missing months with a serious knee injury, but will need time to prove fit for the international roster, and he has a race against time to be a viable World Cup selection.
Also missing is Fabian Ruiz, who has been absent from the PSG lineup with a knee injury since mid-January. Mikel Merino has not been involved for Arsenal since picking up a broken foot earlier this year, and is racing to recover in time for a World Cup spot.
Returning from injury to this roster are two critically important players in Lamine Yamal and Rodri after the pair missed out in November. Also back is Dean Huijsen after he was recovering from injury last time the national team convened.
Not included on the roster were Dani Carvajal of Real Madrid or Robin Le Normand of Atletico Madrid, both of whom have not been involved in either of the last two windows. Raul Asencio was another exclusion as he struggles for playing time at Real Madrid, while Isco has not been called in for nearly a year, and Alvaro Morata has not been brought in since moving to Como at the start of the season.
