The New York Giants fell to a 2-6 record after a 38-20 loss against the reigning Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday.

While the Eagles were the better team in the night, Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux called out a contentious call from the second quarter. Thibodeaux stripped the ball from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts on the fourth-and-1 tush push play, only for the referee to rule that Hurts' progress was stopped.

Giants coach Brian Daboll challenged the first down ruling as the forward progress call was not reviewable. However, the call stood and the Eagles ended up scoring on a 9-yard touchdown two plays later. Following the game, Thibodeaux slammed the referee's explanation on the call.

"(The official) said they called the forward progress before he reached the ball out," Thibodeaux said. "Sounds like some bullsh*t to me."

The linebacker took a dig at the Eagles' controversial play, saying:

"That is the hard part about the tush push," Thibodeaux said. "Sorry, I mean, that was a great call by the refs. You can't blame missed calls on anything. I think we didn't stop the run. They made the 50-50 balls and they got the best of us."

Giants players reflect on contentious calls from Eagles loss

Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, whose 68-yard touchdown grab was called back for an offensive pass interference in the fourth quarter, also reflected on the tush push fumble.

"That one was tough," Slayton said. "The tush push fumble was a tough one. But at the end of the day, there were other plays out there to make. And we certainly could've executed better from our standpoint. But no doubt those type of plays hurt."

Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson held back his feelings on the Slayton touchdown being called back with 10 minutes on the clock.

"I won't comment on that," Robinson said. "I might get fined if I say something crazy."

While the Giants players shared their opinion on the decision from the referee, coach Brian Daboll has nothing to say on the decision.

"Not going to get into any particulars with it," Daboll said.

The Giants will need to regroup as they face the San Francisco 49ers at MetLife Stadium next Sunday.
