ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai of Thailand gave a candid answer about some fans' unrealistic expectations.

The 26-year-old superstar is known as a knockout artist, but admitted it’s practically impossible to finish every opponent.

After all, there are a lot of factors in play, especially against defensive-minded fighters who prioritize survival.

In a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, the Thai striker discussed why a highlight-reel knockout isn’t always on the cards, despite a fighter’s best efforts.

"I just want to give some additional comments. I don't think we essentially need to knock people out. Because sometimes it's not easy. Sometimes you fight someone who is very difficult to knock out. It happens."

A cerebral striker who can punish opponents with one pinpoint strike, Tawanchai’s reputation certainly precedes him.

Then again, it’s also the reason why most of his opponents are passive around him, given his frightening power.

This Friday, Dec. 19, Tawanchai will look to display his elite striking repertoire anew against China’s Liu Mengyang in a featherweight kickboxing bout at ONE Friday Fights 137.

Tawanchai says kickboxing belt is still his main goal

Tawanchai PK Saenchai's spirit remains strong despite suffering a massive setback in his quest for two-sport glory.

The 26-year-old fell short against Masaaki Noiri in their interim kickboxing world title showdown in March at ONE 172.

For Tawanchai, that defeat isn't failure but simply a bump in the road. He shared during the ONE Media Day Thailand:

"Currently, I haven't set any goals in Muay Thai. I just want to become the kickboxing world champion. If I win this fight, we'll have to see what happens next."
