Australian speedster Mitchell Starc couldn't help but fume at the Snicko technology on Day 2 of the third Ashes 2025-26 Test at the Adelaide Oval. In a moment that was caught on stump mic, the Aussie left-arm quick said the technology needed to be sacked after a decision went against the home side.

The moment occurred during the 43rd over of the innings as Australian captain Pat Cummins sent in a short-pitched delivery to England keeper-batter Jamie Smith. With Smith caught in a tangle, the ball seemingly hit his glove and ballooned to Usman Khawaja at slip.

After an umpire review, TV umpire Chris Gaffaney came to a decision that the ball had hit the helmet and it didn't come off the glove. After the words 'Not Out' displayed on the big screen, Starc was caught saying on stump mic:

"Snicko needs to be sacked. That's the worst technology there is."

Here's the video of the same:

The technology also came heavily under the scanner on Day 1 as Alex Carey got a reprieve on 72. With England appealing for a caught-behind chance, Snicko showed that the spike and noise didn't align when Carey swung his bat. As a result, he was given not out and Carey went on to score a crucial hundred. It later emerged that BBG Sports, which provides the technology, admitted the error on its part.

More scrutiny surrounded the technology as Smith was dismissed on Day 2 for a promising cameo of 22. With the keeper-batter swinging across the line, Carey appealed for a caught-behind chance from behind the stumps. Although there was seemingly a gap between bat and ball, Snicko showed a clear spike.

The third umpire went with what the technology said, leaving Smith shaking his head and visiting captain Ben Stokes in displeasure.

Nevertheless, the Englishmen find themselves in a strife at 208/8 after the home side amassed 371 in their first innings, headlined by Carey's 106 and fifties from Usman Khawaja and Starc.
