SMU's Boopie Miller wins game on 50-foot heave, setting off fire-filled celebrations

Boopie Miller has taken the ACC by storm, proving to be one of the best guards in the country while shining for SMU.

And when any season-end highlight videos are put together for Miller, we now know which play will be given the most acclaim.

On Wednesday night, SMU trailed Virginia Tech, 76-74, and was inbounding from its own end with 2.6 seconds on the clock.

Miller sliced across the floor to get open, received the pass, took two dribbles and let it fly from beyond halfcourt near the left sideline.

Straight in.

Ballgame.

Miller may never hit a shot like this again in his life.

And maybe the best part? Whoever at SMU runs their pyrotechnics above the backboards.

Because as soon as that shot dropped through to call game, the person in charge of the fire had the flames going wild.

On fire, indeed.

It was a crucial win for SMU to get back to 2-2 in conference play, and the Mustangs are now 13-4 on the season.

Miller (full name Kevin, Boopie a family nickname) is exactly the kind of player who can make a team dangerous in March. When a guard like him gets hot, anything is possible.

And apparently, he's also got the hero gene.
