Slayyyter recently had to cancel the remainder of her tour over vocal issues, but her big breakout year marches on regardless. Slayyyter's album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA came it at #1 on our mid-year list, and she's about to follow it with the companion-piece LP wor$t man in america. We've already heard her singles "brand new chanel$," "crank 2," and "i think he's got a girl." Today, Slayyyter's got another one.
Slayyyter's new single "hey boyyy" is one reminder of all the things that the artist does well. About half of the song is distorted, intense, pounding blog-house with lots of screaming. The other half is a bubbly, catchy '80s-style pop sunbeam. She interweaves those two oppositional styles in clever, fun ways while singing about a moment of deep heart-aflutter attraction. In the self-directed video, Slayyyter takes a golden skeleton on some romantic dates in Paris and Hollywood. This is just a very fun piece of music. Check it out below.
wor$t man in america is out 12/4 on RECORDS/Columbia.
