The Boston Red Sox have one of the best 1-2-3 punches for starting rotations in the MLB, with Garrett Crochet, Brayan Bello, and Lucas Giolito. However, they need another stud starter to make sure they can win most of their games.
Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan is the favorite, as he was almost acquired at the trade deadline, however there’s always a chance that it may not get done. According to Fansided’s Robert Murray, the Sox could take a look at Milwaukee Brewers’ Freddy Peralta, who Murray believes may be put on the trade block this offseason.

“Just look at the Brewers’ history of trading players before they get big paydays. Josh Hader, Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams were all shipped away before reaching free agency (Hader with 1.5 years remaining on his contract; Burnes, Williams with one year remaining on his contract)...Peralta is in a similar situation. He’ll be entering his contract year in 2026 with Milwaukee,” Murray wrote.
Peralta has been amazing this year, with a record of 16-6, an ERA of 2.69, 185 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.088 in 163 innings pitched.
The Sox have enough cap space to give Peralta a payday, and they have enough prospect depth and resources to make a trade for him. The only problem is the Brewers love Peralta, and he might be one of the few players that get his money’s worth from Milwaukee.
If the Sox don’t end up getting Ryan, and Peralta is on the market, he may even be a better choice.
