The mother of Shilo and Shedeur Sanders was at a loss for words Saturday when her sons officially began their NFL journeys.
Taking to Instagram, Pilar Sanders posted a family photo featuring ex-husband Deion Sanders, daughter Shelomi and the newest members of the Browns and Buccaneers.
“Two sons. One league. Greatness is in the bloodline. This is more than football—it’s a Legendary legacy for the Headache Gang! Words cannot describe this feeling!” Pilar captioned the snap.
Shedeur, 23, considered the most polarizing prospect of the 2025 NFL Draft, did not hear his name called until the fifth round on Saturday when the Browns picked the former Buffaloes quarterback at No. 144 overall.
Shilo, 25, a safety who played alongside brother Shedeur at Colorado, signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
It was a dramatic NFL draft experience for the Sanders family, who watched Shedeur slide out of the first round Thursday when Cam Ward (No. 1, Titans) and Jaxson Dart (No. 25, Giants) were the only quarterbacks selected.
His wait continued in the second and third rounds on Friday when he fell victim to a prank caller posing as a representative of an NFL club.
Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of former Jets coach Jeff Ulbrich, was revealed to be behind the cruel prank.
The Browns, who took Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in Friday’s third round at No. 94, ended Shedeur’s wait on the third and final day of the draft.
“Thank you @clevelandbrowns for an OPPORTUNITY !!!!!!! THANK YOU GOD,” Shedeur posted on Instagram afterward.
Shedeur now joins a crowded quarterback room that features Gabriel, former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, veteran Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson, whose 2025 availability is murky after he re-injured his Achilles, an injury he originally sustained in October 2024.
“We felt like he was a good, solid prospect at the most important position,” Browns GM Andrew Berry told reporters after drafting Shedeur. “We felt like it got to a point where his price relative to the draft where the acquisition cost was pretty light. It’s a guy we think can outproduce his draft stock. I wouldn’t say it’s any more than that. Obviously, Shedeur has grown up in the spotlight, but our expectation is for him to come in here and work and compete.”
Dad Deion, who wed Pilar in 1999 before their 2013 divorce, commemorated his sons’ NFL draft journeys in an Instagram post Sunday.
“God is great,” he posted.
