Shedeur Sanders gets positive feedback as Browns QB competition heats up

Shedeur Sanders is coming up on his second season with the Cleveland Browns. It's a pivotal one, and he still doesn't know if he'll be starting for the team.

Sanders, of course, is up against veteran Deshaun Watson in what's a very high-profile quarterback battle. Both want the start. One will get it.

Now, NFL insider Albert Breer has been at the Browns' training camp, and he has some positive things to say about how Sanders is improving.

Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is trending in the right direction, according to report

In a piece for SI, Breer says that "both Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders have taken steps amid all the noise" of their very high-profile quarterback competition.

For Sanders, Breer says the young quarterback's "processing and pocket movement have improved, and his command at the line has progressed, too."

He adds, "Much of his work now is about minimizing unforced errors and playing with a better understanding of situational football, areas where young quarterbacks typically struggle."

So, who will get the start? That's still up in the air, of course. Breer notes that one will start in Chicago against the Bears on Saturday, while the other will start at home the following week against the Buffalo Bills.

He notes that the coaches will hold joint practices with Buffalo in between these games to look at both quarterbacks more and make a decision. Then, they'll use those last three weeks before the regular season starts to build an offense around the quarterback they pick, since each signal-caller requires a different kind of offensive line.
