Shailene Woodley's friends are defending the actress after Aaron Rodgers' recent comments.
Several friends of Woodley's reportedly spoke to TMZ and questioned why "a married dude is bringing up an ex he hasn’t spoken with in over two years,” one source told the outlet.
Woodley and Rodgers began dating in July 2020, and a few months later in December 2020, the Pittsburgh Steelers star proposed. The couple confirmed their engagement in February 2021.
The "Divergent" actress's friends called his behavior this week "out of character," as during their relationship he respected her privacy. While Woodley has not spoken out about Rodgers' comments, they told the outlet that they don't believe she would be comfortable with him sharing those private details about their past romance. The two broke up for good in 2022.
Her friends added that she has “no ill will” toward him and they haven't spoken in nearly two years.
What did Aaron Rodgers say about Shailene Woodley?
During an episode of Cam Heyward's "Not Just Football" podcast earlier this week, the Steelers quarterback claimed that Woodley needed to "go f*** this guy" before they got married.
Additionally, he shared that she decided to no longer wear the engagement ring about three months after he proposed. While they tried to mend the relationship, they ultimately went their separate ways.
Despite their relationship making headlines again, they have both moved on. Woodley was in a relationship with "Emily in Paris" actor Lucas Bravo for six months until they broke up in September 2025. She was last spotted with "The Strangers" actor Milo Callaghan in February 2026 in Milan, according to People. However, they have not confirmed a relationship.
Rodgers on the other hand, got married to his wife, Brittani, in June 2025 and is looking forward to starting a family with her after he finishes his last season of football.
