Shai Gilgeous-Alexander honored by being in the same conversation as Wilt Chamberlain

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has entered a unique territory. In the past, Wilt Chamberlain was the only player to score 20 or more points for 126 consecutive games. For over 63 years, Wilt was the only player to accomplish that milestone.

Now, Gilgeous-Alexander has matched that milestone. It is one of the most impressive accomplishments for any player, as none of Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, or LeBron James achieved it during their legendary NBA careers.

Gilgeous-Alexander is happy to match Wilt Chamberlain's milestone

Gilgeous-Alexander is arguably the best player in the league, as proven by his MVP and Finals MVP awards from the previous season. Considering that the Thunder are the favorites to win the title again, he could repeat with both awards this season.

Apart from the awards, SGA has shown that he is one of the most elite players in the world. He is not only playing well on offense, but he is also doing well with his defense and leadership. Moving forward, his offense will definitely get the spotlight, but that should not mean his overall game should be ignored.

His scoring is on full display this season, as he averages 31.7 points per game at an elite efficiency. Considering he is a guard, SGA scoring at this rate and at that efficiency is showing that he is on par with all-time greats. While he did not envision this, he is earning every single bit of praise.

"To be honest, I try not to think about it, especially during the season. So much is going on, so many things have to go right... But being in a conversation with a guy like that is special. It’s crazy to think where I was 10 years ago, I’d be here today. You work hard. You trust the process. You look up, and great things can happen for you," SGA said after beating the Nuggets.

SGA is the current favorite to win the MVP award again, especially after he beat the Denver Nuggets with a game-winner on Monday. Moving forward, this could yet another catalyst for the Thunder as they continue to embark on their championship defense.
