Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets $380 million contract update after Thunder win NBA Finals

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder took home the Larry O'Brien Trophy, defeating the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals to capture their first championship since moving to OKC.

Gilgeous-Alexander took home Finals MVP to top off what has been a historic 2024 campaign. The Kentucky standout won three different MVPs this year, including regular season MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP, to go along with his NBA Finals MVP.

SGA had a record-breaking season and is about to cash in as a result.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Gilgeous-Alexander can sign a four-year, $293 million extension with the Thunder this offseason. However, the All-NBA guard could also wait until next offseason to sign a new deal, which would be for five years at $380 million.

"Shai Gilgeous-Alexander met the super max criteria (All-NBA in 2 out of 3 years) last offseason but was ineligible to sign because he was short of the years of service criteria. He is eligible this offseason to sign a four-year $293M extension with OKC," Marks wrote. "Because he won MVP (and this would have applied to being named All-NBA this year), SGA is now eligible to sign a five-year $380M extension but would have to wait until the 2026 offseason."

Gilgeous-Alexander deserves every penny of his potential new deal, as he has completely changed Thunder basketball and is one of the five best players in the world. The 26-year-old is also just entering his prime, so he'll have Oklahoma City in a position to compete for championships for the foreseeable future.
