Selena Gomez caught Martin Short texting their “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Meryl Streep during the Emmys.
In a video clip circulating via X, the former Disney Channel star — who attended the show with fiancé Benny Blanco — appeared to take a peek at Short a few seats down, as he was looking at his phone and chatting with Steve Martin.
She then looked back at Blanco, seemingly mouthing the words, “He’s texting Meryl.” She pouted and smiled in a secretive expression while delivering the news to her future husband. The “Devil Wears Prada” star did not appear to attend the ceremony on Sunday.
Gomez, 33, stars in the beloved comedy-drama alongside Martin and Short as New York City podcasters unraveling a web of murder mysteries in their historical building, the Arconia. Streep co-stars as Short’s love interest, and the two were snapped making out on the show’s set in May.
Streep, 76, and Short, 75, sparked real-life dating rumors in January 2024 after looking cozy while sitting together at the Golden Globes.
At the time, a rep for the “Saturday Night Live” alum told People that they were “just very good friends, nothing more.” Short also denied the rumors a month later.

“We’re not a couple. We are just very close friends,” he told Bill Maher on a February 2024 episode of the “Club Random” podcast.
The following August, they held hands on the red carpet of the “Only Murders in the Building” Season 4 premiere, and have since been seen on multiple dinner dates around Los Angeles.
Despite their reticence on the topic, a source told Page Six in March that the acting legends had been dating for “well over a year now.”
“Meryl couldn’t help but fall for Martin,” the insider said at the time. “He is a gentleman, he keeps her laughing and is an all-around positive person. She loves being around him.”
The mom of four split from longtime husband Don Gummer in 2018, and Short became a widower after the death of his wife of thirty years, Nancy Dolman, in 2010.
Gomez and Blanco, meanwhile, are said to be headed down the aisle this month. According to TMZ, the couple will wed in Montecito or Santa Barbara in Southern California.
