Seahawks urged to 'focus' on re-signing Kenneth Walker III over all other free agents

The Seattle Seahawks are entering the 2026 offseason with a lot of question marks. Will they extend Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Devon Witherspoon, or Sam Darnold? And what will they do about their free agent class this year?

Among their free agents, which include Coby Bryant, Josh Jobe, Boye Mafe, Rashid Shaheed, and Tariq Woolen, the most important one is their beloved running back, Kenneth Walker III.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report is urging the Seahawks to "focus" on Walker above all their other free agents this offseason, with the Super Bowl MVP the most important player to re-sign this offseason for Seattle.

Seahawks urged to focus on re-signing Kenneth Walker

"Given Charbonnet's recovery timeline, the Seahawks should focus on working out a deal with one of their own players," Moton writes. "As the team's lead running back, Walker can pick up where he left off."

If Zach Charbonnet hadn't torn his ACL during the San Francisco 49ers' NFC Divisional round playoff game, then theSeahawks might've been less inclined to re-sign Walker.

But, after taking over the backfield and becoming a workhorse at the most opportune time, not only has Walker secured himself a healthy payday, but he also proved the Seahawks should not, under any circumstances, let him walk.

While running back might not be the most premium position, and free agents like Woolen, Mafe, and Shaheed might be harder to replace, finding a running back who means as much to the Seahawks as Walker does can only be found in retirement with Marshawn Lynch.

Letting Walker go would be a huge mistake. Not only is he beloved by the fans, but he's also a great player who should be more than capable of leading a Seahawks backfield in 2026.

Walker is a player the Seahawks must re-sign this offseason, and Moton's wish that the Seahawks should "focus" on Walker this offseason is exactly what the Seahawks should do.

Seattle shouldn't go into 2026 without Walker, their Super Bowl MVP and beloved running back, not on the roster.
