Seahawks to sign Packers 500-yard RB to $2.1M deal to replace Kenneth Walker

Coming into the 2026 offseason, the Seattle Seahawks knew that they were going to need to find a way to replace Kenneth Walker III in free agency, the draft, or in a trade.

He was going to command too much money, and by agreeing to a deal worth up to $45 million over three years with the Kansas City Chiefs, those fears were realized. The Seahawks needed to find a Walker replacement.

And according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, they have found their running back. Seattle is in agreement on a $2.1 million contract with Emmanuel Wilson, formerly of the Green Bay Packers, on a one-year deal.

Seahawks to sign Emmanuel Wilson to $2.1M deal

"The Seahawks are signing former Packers RB Emmanuel Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $2.1M, source said," Rapoport reports.

This is a quality running back addition for the Seahawks, but they will still likely need to explore other additions to at least create a tougher competition and depth chart with Zach Charbonnet coming off a torn ACL.

Last season for the Packers, Wilson got a few chances to shine. As Rapoport notes, Wilson had 107 yards rushing in one start, and in another, he put up 82 yards.

In the season for the Packers, Wilson had 496 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 125 carries to go with 99 receiving yards on 15 receptions.

In 2024, Wilson ran for 502 yards and four touchdowns on 103 attempts to go with 48 receiving yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions.

The 5-foot-10, 226-pound running back will be 27 years old at the start of the season. While he might not be the flashy addition that some fans might've wanted, Wilson is a cheap one-year rental who could be the exact kind of player the Seahawks need.

He's a solid fill-in for Walker in the short-term, and has proven to be a nice complementary back with Josh Jacobs in Green Bay already.

This is an interesting addition for Seattle, and it might not be the last one they make in the running back room. John Schneider might have more up his sleeve as he looks to replace the Super Bowl MVP in the Seahawks offense this offseason.
