Seahawks set to lose Super Bowl MVP to Chiefs in heartbreaking roster move

The Seattle Seahawks have a lot of players hitting free agency this offseason, and while they have some players they want to bring back, there are a few likely on their way out.

Riq Woolen was the most likely to depart, but Kenneth Walker III, their Super Bowl MVP, was the other big player who could be on his way out. And that possibility has come to reality.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Walker is set to sign a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. It's a heartbreaking update for the Seahawks, as their fan favorite running back is leaving for a Super Bowl powerhouse.

"Former Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III is signing with the Chiefs, sources tell The Insiders," Pelissero reports. "A payday and a new home for the Super Bowl MVP..."

This is a heartbreaking update for the Seahawks, as Walker is leaving for not just any team, but the Chiefs, a perennial Super Bowl contender.

Walker ran for 1,027 yards last season with five touchdowns in a split backfield with Zach Charbonnet. In the Seahawks' Super Bowl run, Walker ran for 313 yards and four touchdowns on the way to Super Bowl MVP.

Walker is one of the more explosive running backs in the NFL, and he's now leaving the Seahawks behind to join the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes to form an explosive, exciting offense in Kansas City.

The Seahawks will play the Chiefs and Walker next season at some point. While the date isn't set, with Walker joining the Chiefs, that matchup takes on a bit of a new meaning with Walker set to return to Seattle with his new team in 2026.
