The Seattle Seahawks have a massive concern with quarterback Sam Darnold going into the divisional-round game against the San Francisco 49ers.
On Thursday, the Seahawks revealed that Darnold was added to the injury report with an oblique issue, and Seattle has listed him as questionable to play.
After practice, Darnold told reporters that he felt something in his oblique and didn't want to push the issue, The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar reported.
When asked about his status for Saturday's game, Darnold didn't completely rule out missing the contest, but said his chances of sitting are "close to zero" and he remains "confident" that he'll play.
“Feel like I’ll be ready to go for Saturday,” he said.
Oblique injuries can be very tricky and the concern is that even if Darnold plays, he may not be 100% and could re-injure himself during the game.
If Darnold sits out or is forced to exit early, the Seahawks would turn to veteran Drew Lock.
Despite having a bye week, the Seahawks had a lengthy injury report this week. Of the 13 players listed, 11 of them were for injury- or illness-related issues.
Now, Darnold's status will be one to monitor over the next few days.
We'll get final confirmation on Darnold an hour and a half before the Niners and Seahawks kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
