Seahawks reportedly agree to record-breaking $132M contract with beloved 3x Pro Bowl CB

The Seattle Seahawks had some work to do coming off their Super Bowl 60 title. They extended Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a massive new deal, and next in line was their star cornerback, Devon Witherspoon.

But as the preseason approached, Witherspoon hadn't signed a new deal. There was some uncertainty about his looming extension, which he obviously deserves.

Fortunately, any worries can be laid to rest. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks and Witherspoon are in agreement on a massive $132 million contract extension over the next four years, breaking the CB contract record in NFL history.

"ESPN sources: three-time Pro Bowl CB Devon Witherspoon and the Seahawks reached agreement on a four-year, $132 million extension and includes over $101 million guaranteed that now makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history," Schefter reports.

This massive new deal for Witherspoon is the new record for the largest cornerback contract in league history. No other CB has agreed to such a mammoth deal.

Witherspoon's $132 million contract is the most for any cornerback in league history, beating out Trent McDuffie of the Los Angeles Rams, who signed for $124 million earlier this offseason.

The Seahawks star CB is also breaking the average-per-year record set by Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward this offseason. Ward signed for $31.1 million per year, while Witherspoon's new deal comes in at a whopping $33 million per year.

The 25-year-old cornerback, and former 2023 first-rounder is now locked up for quite some time on this massive new contract extension.

But his play in the Super Bowl and his performance over the last three seasons are more than worth this record-breaking deal.
