Seahawks predicted to sign 49ers $5 million free agent playmaker

Despite signing Emanuel Wilson in free agency, the Seattle Seahawks still have a glaring need at running back after the departure of Kenneth Walker.

That's why YardBarker's Colton Edwards predicts the Seahawks will sign San Francisco 49ers free agent running back Brian Robinson Jr.

"With Zach Charbonnet sidelined by an ACL tear and Walker gone, Seattle signed Emanuel Wilson, but it needs a lead back. Robinson's rushing consistency fits as a rotational starter on a one-year deal during Charbonnet's recovery," Edwards said.

Robinson Jr. appeared in all 17 games this past year, posting 400 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 4.3 yards per carry.

When in a starting role with the Washington Commanders from 2022 to 2024, Robinson tallied three straight seasons with over 700 rushing yards and also had over 1,100 scrimmage yards in 2023.

Signing Robinson would add some power to Seattle's rushing attack and would also give the Seahawks a running back room with solid depth and versatility.

Additionally, Robunson will be cheap to sign. Spotrac projects the 26-year-old will sign a one-year deal worth $3.1 million, which could be incredibly affordable.

Seattle will need to produce at least an average rushing attack until Zach Charbonnet can return from a torn ACL, and a duo of Robinson and Wilson would be able to carry the load in 2026 for the defending champions.
