The Toronto Maple Leafs, after the NHL trade deadline, pretty much had no choice but to promote Bo Groulx and give him action.
Since taking the ice for the Leafs, Groulx has looked like a new player.
He had played 65 NHL games before this, all with the Anaheim Ducks, and scored just one goal.
But in four games with the Leafs, Groulx now has three goals and counting.
It's an immensely cool opportunity for Groulx that he's taking advantage of.
Groulx is a 26-year old center, a left-shot. He's originally from Rouen, France. He's a big guy, measuring 6-foot-2 (188 cm) and 204 pounds (93 kg).
This season with the Toronto Marlies, Groulx had put up a very quality set of numbers.
He played 54 games in the AHL and put up 27 goals with 23 assists (50 points).
Those were both already his career-best totals at the AHL level for a full season.

His task then became to prove it could translate at the NHL level.
And while it's more likely than not that Groulx slows down at some point, for now, he's showing that he can fit in at this level when given the chance.
For Toronto, it's a positive development late in a season that has otherwise been a major disappointment.
