Seahawks face worrying Sam Darnold question despite Super Bowl win

The 2025 season was a magical one for the Seattle Seahawks. They won the Super Bowl, their defense looked to be as good as any unit in the NFL, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba won the Offensive Player of the Year.

While Sam Darnold was the quarterback, and he played an incredible NFC Championship game to get the Seahawks to the Super Bowl, he wasn't the main catalyst for the success of the team in 2025.

Now, heading into the 2026 season, Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon brings up a worrying question with Darnold. Despite the Super Bowl win, Darnold has a big question of whether he can get rid of his bad turnover habit from last season.

Seahawks face worrying Sam Darnold turnover habit

"Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks: A bad turnover habit," Gagnon writes. "Darnold is coming off an incredible Super Bowl campaign, but it's hard to envision Seattle getting back there if the 29-year-old once again leads the NFL in turnovers after he coughed it up 20 times in 2025."

During the 2025 season, Darnold earned a Pro Bowl nod for going 14-3, throwing for 4,048 yards with a 67.7% completion rate and 25 touchdowns.

However, he threw 14 interceptions and fumbled the ball 11 times, the most in the NFL, losing six of those fumbles.

This turnover issue didn't cost the Seahawks in the playoffs last year, as he didn't throw a single interception in three playoff games, though he did fumble once.

Despite Darnold proving he's a good quarterback last season, it's hard not to be worried about his turnover issues from last season.

Turnovers typically lead to losses, and the Seahawks were fortunate that Darnold's turnover issues didn't result in a worse record.

But now, with the running game likely to be worse with Kenneth Walker III gone and Zach Charbonnet hurt, Darnold won't have the same leeway to commit turnovers like he had last year.

This turnover problem, being Darnold's biggest question mark heading into 2026, makes sense. It's an issue fans should worry about, though Darnold has proven he's capable of locking in and not turning the ball over when it matters.
