Sea of red seen in World Cup low fan turnout in Santa Clara

The color red donned across Saturday afternoon’s World Cup Group B match between Qatar and Switzerland.

Besides the shirts worn by the Swiss fans, the color spread across Levi’s Stadium due to the number of empty seats that filled the backdrop of the game.

Usually, Levi’s Stadium holds a capacity of 68,500 seats when the San Francisco 49ers are playing in it, but for the World Cup, the stadium is able to expand its seating up to 70,000 seats.

The Swiss fans proudly wore the bright red of their country, only to blend in with the empty seats of the stadium.

One of the complaints that has surrounded the World Cup this year has been the surge in ticket prices.

Before the games began, President Trump told The Post that he wouldn’t even pay for the $1,000 ticket prices that have surged across the event.

The San Francisco 49ers have received backlash in the past for not filling up their stadium during NFL games. But the fans complained that they were arriving late to games because of the traffic that builds up from the tailgaters.

But for the World Cup, Levi’s Stadium has implemented a stricter policy for tailgating at the games, which would seamlessly make it easier for fans to enter the stadium.

Recently, Levi’s Stadium was home to the Super Bowl this past February, and the stadium was packed out before the teams took the field.

Empty seats during World Cup matches have already been a problem for FIFA, who are three days into the tournament.

On Thursday, empty seats were shown across the background during the South Korea vs Czech Republic match. FIFA placed the blame on fans hanging out in the concourse area.
