All the Boston Celtics can hope for over the next few months to the next year is that Jayson Tatum will eventually be the same player he once was.
While Achilles injuries are tough, and nobody around the league should ever want to see a player of his caliber go down, or anyone for that matter, they aren't exactly easy to come back from.
However, with modern medications and different types of surgeries, the hope is for him to eventually be the player he was.

And according to an anonymous scout, the feeling around the NBA is that Tatum is in that position.
“He was moving really well,” the scout told Heavy’s Steve Bulpett in a phone conversation. “There might have been a slight limp or something, but the surprising thing to me is that he didn’t have a boot for any of it. I’m no doctor, but I’ve seen guys coming back from Achilles’ tears, and he looked way ahead. I was kind of shocked to see how well he was moving.”
There simply isn't any better news the Celtics can get as of now, other than Tatum looking as well as he does. He’s still early in his rehab process, considering where things stand, but all signs have been promising.
Of course, it'll take more for him to get back on the court and prove that he’s still elite to make all Celtics fans happy, but if one thing is for sure, Tatum will take his injury seriously, just like he's done throughout every other part of his career.
