The San Antonio Spurs received a positive injury update on Victor Wembanyama ahead of Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers. The result of Wembanyama’s MRI on his left knee hyperextension came back negative, which ruled out the possibility of the French phenom missing extended time.

The Defensive Player of the Year candidate is listed as out on the injury report for the Pacers game with left knee soreness. The 7-foot-4 center didn't travel with the team to Indiana and stayed back in San Antonio to receive further care on his injured knee. According to reports, Wembanyama will be listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Spurs superstar has now missed 13 games this season, including the matchup against the Pacers. If Victor Wembanyama misses more than four games, the one-time All-Star won't be eligible for any in-season award.

Meanwhile, the Spurs will play without Devin Vassell for the second straight game. The star forward is dealing with a left adductor strain and is expected to miss multiple games. San Antonio coach Mitch Johnson recently confirmed that Vassell will be sidelined for "more than a game or two."

Two-way players Stanley Umude, David Jones Garcia and Harrison Ingram are with the G League team. They won't be available to play against the Pacers. The Spurs, who have a 24-9 record and are second in the West, are favorites to win against injury-ravaged Indiana, despite missing their two key starters.
