The word "bang" is one syllable.
The 3-pointer that Cleveland Cavaliers standout Sam Merrill fired late Tuesday night, which would've won Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks, somehow got Mike Breen to turn that four-letter word into about three syllables.
It's Breen's signature call, "Bang!" He pulls it out when players make incredible shots in crucial moments.
A game-winner by Merrill in the playoffs certainly would've qualified.
And the shot, off a feed from James Harden in a tie game, looked good. It was halfway down before rimming out.
And so Breen started to unleash his signature syllable, dragged it out a bit as he waited to see if it would fall, and then cut off the word just before finishing it.
Here, have a listen:

Merrill is having a great postseason run. This would've been a fitting moment.
Instead, though, the shot didn't quite fall. The call didn't quite get finished.
And instead of a Cavs win in Game 1, they were heading to overtime.
