Saints trade rumor could be of interest to Commanders, Vikings, Seahawks and Broncos

The New Orleans Saints made a signing in free agency on Monday that has turned heads around the NFL and could possibly lead to a trade.

According to multiple reports, the Saints signed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne in free agency, which was an interesting move  because New Orleans still has fellow back Alvin Kamara under contract.

In the wake of that move, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that teams are looking at Kamara as a possible trade candidate.

"With the Saints reaching agreement today with RB Travis Etienne, there now are questions around the league about whether RB Alvin Kamara will be moving on from New Orleans and whether the Saints would be willing trade him. Teams are tracking and wondering about it," Schefter wrote.

Trade rumors swirled around Kamara last season, but he didn't get moved, and Kamara made it quite clear he'd rather retire than play for another team.

The Saints restructured Kamara's contract, which seemed to indicate that he wasn't going anywhere in 2026, but the signing of Etienne might have changed things and perhaps Kamara will get off his stance of Saints or retirement.

If so, four teams that could have interest are the Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks lost Kenneth Walker to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, the Vikings cut Aaron Jones and the Commanders have four pending free agents at running back and need an upgrade next to Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

In Denver, the Broncos re-signed J.K. Dobbins, who will return to his role next to RJ Harvey, but we know Dobbins has injury concerns which, along with Kamara's connection to Sean Payton, could lead to Denver having interest.

Kamara does come with some risk, though.

After all, he's coming off a down year and is 31 years old, although he was also part of one of the worst offenses in the league in New Orleans before Tyler Shough provided some juice late in the campaign.

Despite the negative factors, we would expect plenty of teams to have interest in a trade for Kamara if the price is right, and if he's willing to play elsewhere.
