The offseason for the New Orleans Saints has begun with a few notable moves. After finding the answer at quarterback with Tyler Shough, the Saints have begun investing in his surroundings.
They signed David Edwards to be their new left guard and Travis Etienne Jr. to be their new starting running back. But, after the first wave of free agency, despite making some big moves, the Saints still have two big roster holes.
According to ESPN's Katherine Terrell, the Saints have two roster holes, one on each side of the ball. After a strong start to the offseason, Mickey Loomis needs to invest in the wide receiver and defensive end rooms.
Saints have two big holes at WR and DE to still fill
"Biggest remaining roster holes: Wide receiver or defensive end," Terrell writes. Both positions could use some help in 2026 and beyond.
For starters, at defensive end, the Saints could still wind up re-signing Cameron Jordan to another one-year deal to return for his 16th season in the NFL.
But, with his status a bit uncertain, the Saints' defensive end room might be in dire need of help if Jordan ends up walking for a new team this offseason.
If that happens, one of Ruben Bain or David Bailey with the 8th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft would make a lot of sense.

Their other need is a wide receiver. While Chris Olave is a great number one, and Devaughn Vele has some support within the organization, the Saints do need a better number two option for Shough.
They've passed on the top free agents, and instead could turn to the NFL Draft or the trade market. A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles might be a bit too rich for the Saints, but someone like Keon Coleman from the Buffalo Bills would make sense.
In the draft, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, and Makai Lemon are the best options with the 8th overall pick. Most likely, one of those WRs will make it to their pick.
The Saints need to add help at both defensive end and wide receiver, and there are some free agents and trade options available. But, most likely, they will use the 8th overall pick to fill one of those needs, with a top option likely to make it to them at their pick.
