Saints get brutal injury news on Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy

The New Orleans Saints played a sloppy game against the Chicago Bears in Week 7. They lost 26-14, dropping to 1-6, and now looking ahead to some major questions in the second half of the year.

But, during the loss, the Saints saw two players go down with concerning injuries. Keandre Miller is done for the season with a torn ACL, and Erik McCoy, the team's Pro Bowl center, also was dealt some brutal injury news.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints center, who suffered a biceps injury in the Week 7 loss to the Bears, is now out for the rest of the season.

Saints' Erik McCoy suffers brutal season-ending biceps injury

"Erik McCoy's biceps injury is season ending, per source." Underhill reported. "Big hit for the Saints."

The Saints' $60 million center was coming off an injury-shortened 2024 season, and now, once again, McCoy will miss the majority of the year with an injury.

Just like his 2024 season, McCoy will finish the year with seven games played. Losing any player along the offensive line stings, but losing McCoy is a tough blow for the Saints, as the two-time Pro Bowler is a big loss for the Saints.

With McCoy now slated to miss the remainder of the season, backup center Luke Fortner will be in line to start for the Saints. The former Jacksonville Jaguars center struggled with the Jaguars, but in limited action for the Saints, has been a decent replacement.

New Orleans, now without their best offensive lineman, will have to go the rest of the season with a new center. Fortner isn't the worst backup, since he has plenty of starting experience in Jacksonville, but McCoy's absence will be felt the rest of the year.

The 28-year-old center is going to miss the rest of the 2025 NFL season, and with his contract running through 2027, the Saints will get two more years with McCoy if he can come back healthy, and if the Saints keep him for the rest of his contract.
