Saints get bad news on Alvin Kamara amid MCL injury timeline

1 hour ago 3

The New Orleans Saints got some terrible news this August, as Jordyn Tyson is reportedly going to miss upwards of two months, and could potentially be out through Week 8 for the Saints as well, depending on his recovery.

But unfortunately for Tyler Shough and Kellen Moore, Tyson isn't the only playmaker they've now lost for a while this summer. Now, Alvin Kamara is banged up.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints veteran running back has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss at least the next month due to this injury issue.

Saints lose Alvin Kamara for month with MCL injury

"Saints RB Alvin Kamara is expected to be sidelined for at least the next month due to a sprained MCL, per source," Schefter reports.

This is another brutal injury for the Saints offense, as they've now lost Tyson, their No. 2 wide receiver, and Kamara, their No. 2 running back.

Kamara being set to miss at least the next month means that he'll be out for the rest of the preseason, which isn't a surprise, but he's now also looking likely to miss time during the regular season.

But how much could he miss? Their season opener is a little under a month away on August 13 against the Detroit Lions. Their next game is against the Baltimore Ravens on September 20, which is a little over one month from today's injury report.

So, Kamara is almost surely going to miss Week 1 of the regular season and might also miss Week 2 as well. He would then seemingly have a chance to be back for their Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders or Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

This injury timeline isn't certain one just yet, but Kamara is expected to miss "at least" one month due to this issue. That likely means Week 1 will be played without Kamara, and Week 2 could have the star RB back in action.

This is an unfortunate injury for the Saints, as they've already lost two key players on offense in Tyler Shough's pivotal second season in the NFL. It's a tough blow, but with Travis Etienne Jr. leading the way, hopefully the offense doesn't lose a step.
