Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee’s season appears to be over before it began.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Bresee is believed to have suffered a torn ACL and it will require him to miss the entire 2026 NFL season.

Medical tests are ongoing.

It wasn’t immediately clear when Bresee had suffered the devastating injury and The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate reported that he had not been on the field for the Saints’ last 11-on-11 period.

Taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Bresee has started at least 10 games in each of the previous two seasons for New Orleans and has 14.5 sacks in 49 career games with the organization.

He has two years left on his current contract, which includes the fifth-year option the Saints picked up for 2027.

If the situation is as serious as feared, it would open up the door for Vernon Broughton and Christen Miller for a larger role.
