The Buffalo Sabres bounced around the goalie depth chart in 2025-26.
Despite that, Devon Levi stayed down with AHL Rochester. He was once thought of as the most promising goalie in the organization, but not anymore.
Now, Levi's days with Buffalo might be numbered.
According to radio host Jeff Marek, the Sabres and Levi are "over."
Would that mean a trade is in order? Potentially, although there wasn't more concrete detail than that.
The Sabres switched back and forth during their postseason run between the more naturally talented Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and the hard-working journeyman Alex Lyon.
They also spent time this season with Colton Ellis in the net at the NHL level.

Levi spent the entire season down at Rochester, where he had a 2.83 goals against average and a 90.4 save percentage. Both of those declined from what he did in the AHL in 2024-25.
Levi has played 39 career games with the Sabres, but he hasn't become a player they feel they can rely upon at the NHL level.
Still just 24 years old, Levi feels like someone who still has potential, whether that's meant to be unlocked in Buffalo or elsewhere.
But with a bit of a goalie logjam with the Sabres, it wouldn't be shocking if Levi wound up elsewhere at some point in the relatively near future.
